Since we do high density, multi-species grazing on our farm, our eggs are truly superior to any you can get anywhere. Our chickens never receive any antibiotics or shots and are well cared for and attended to. They live happily out on the pasture and ‘follow’ our cattle to take full advantage of the herbivore activity.
Just 2-3 days after the cows have enjoyed a plot of grass, we bring our ‘Egg-mobile’ on over to that part and set up shop and let the birds do what they do best. Our chickens and turkeys go nuts with that nutrient-dense bug activity waiting for them, and we are grateful for their help with scratching through everything and returning it to the pasture’s soil. While most people don’t really get as jazzed when thinking about the actual details of their food, it is really great to know you can have a local, fresh and convenient source of eggs which can deliver right to where you know you’re going to be at least a couple times per week.
